Many customers have reported a common problem: after purchasing what appeared to be a "cost-effective" oil mist filter, their vacuum pumps began experiencing poor exhaust flow, increased oil contamination, and a higher frequency of oil changes. Why does this happen?
According to customer feedback, severe pump oil contamination consistently occurred after replacing the oil mist filter, even though their intake filtration systems were well-maintained. This suggests that the oil mist filter was the root cause. From the photos provided by customers, the surface of the filter element appeared unusually smooth, likely due to the use of spray-coated cotton for aesthetic purposes. While this may enhance visual appeal, it does not equate to high quality. In fact, a high-performance oil mist filter should have a slightly rough surface. Spraying adhesive on the surface is not part of the standard manufacturing process.
Although surface spraying may improve the filter's appearance, the adhesive can clog the pores of the filtering material, hindering oil mist filtration and discharge, which ultimately leads to restricted exhaust flow in the vacuum pump. Additionally, as the vacuum pump operates at elevated temperatures, the adhesive on the filter can dissolve and mix with the condensed oil. This contaminated oil then flows back into the oil reservoir, polluting the entire oil system.
