Many types of vacuum pumps require vacuum pump oil for lubrication. Under the lubrication effect of vacuum pump oil, the operational efficiency of the vacuum pump improves while the friction decreases. On the other hand, it extend the service life of the vacuum pump through reducing the wear of components. However, it will be counterproductive if we use the oil incorrectly. We need to pay attention to the following aspects:
1.The type of vacuum pump oil.
The composition, proportion and viscosity vary from oil to oil. Choosing a vacuum pump oil that fits the equipment can reduce energy consumption. Special attention should be paid not to use different types of vacuum pump oil interchangeably. Mixing different oils may react with each other that affect the lubrication effect, and even producing harmful substances. If you have to replace the vacuum pump oil with a different type, the residual old oil inside must be cleaned up, and the vacuum pump must be cleaned multiple times with new oil. Otherwise, the old oil will contaminate the new one and cause emulsification, thereby blocking the oil mist filter of the vacuum pump.
2.The amount of vacuum pump oil.
Many people have a misconception that the more vacuum pump oil they add, the better the lubrication effect will be. In fact, adding oil to one-third to two-thirds of the container is optimal. Adding too much vacuum pump oil will actually increase the resistance of the rotor and generate a large amount of heat, causing the temperature of the bearing to rise and damaging it.
In the end, it is recommended to fit it with a suitable oil mist separator and oil filter. During the operation of vacuum pumps, a large amount of fumes are emitted. The oil mist separator can filter out the fumes to protect the environment and people's health. Oil filter can maintain the purity of the pump oil and extend the service life of the vacuum pump.
